My Gut Healing Journey: How Fresh Milled Flour is Changing My Health

Hi, I’m Emma, and I’m the daughter in the mother-daughter Nourish & Flourish team.

For years, I struggled with dyshidrotic eczema — painful, itchy blisters on my hands that no doctor could fully explain or heal. I tried creams, steroids, elimination diets, and nothing gave lasting relief. What I didn't know then is that my skin was trying to tell me something about my gut health — and that God's design for whole, unprocessed foods would be the key to my healing journey

When I started baking with fresh-milled flour (flour made from the whole wheat berry—bran, germ, and endosperm), it was because I wanted to make healthier bread for my family. What I didn't expect was how this one small switch would spark a deeper transformation in my health from the inside out.

This series is my story — and everything I'm learning about how whole grains, fermented foods, and gut health are connected.

If you're struggling with chronic health issues or feeling confused about what real, nourishing food actually looks like — you're not alone. I'm still on this journey, but what I know now is this:

Our bodies were created to heal — we just need to give them what God designed.

I'll be sharing everything I'm learning along the way, including:

  • Why fresh-milled flour is so much better for your gut than store-bought bread

  • How fermented foods help heal the gut

  • My favorite recipes made with whole, God-given ingredients

  • Simple steps to start nourishing your family without feeling overwhelmed

If you're ready to start your own gut-healing journey, I'd love to have you follow along.

Let's nourish and flourish — together.
